Suzelle Ricard always knew she wanted to open her own business. The problem was, she didn’t know how to get started or when she would find the time. Not entirely sure what her future as a small business owner would look like, Suzelle turned to a tried and true system.

In 2015, she attended the Canadian Franchise Association’s (CFA) Franchise Canada Show in Montreal. It was here where she met with representatives from Little Caesars.

“One conversation with them and I knew I had found something special,” Suzelle says. “We discussed the Little Caesars business model and the company’s franchise opportunity. I immediately turned to my husband and said, ‘I found something!’”

A few weeks later, the Ricards travelled to Cornwall, Ontario to visit a Little Caesars store in person. Suzelle fell in love with the concept all over again and decided she was ready to take the leap into business ownership. She started by conducting her due diligence, studying the franchise model and drafting her own business plan. A few months later she interviewed with Little Caesars in Toronto and, soon after, signed a franchise agreement with the company.

Suzelle opened her first location in Mascouche, Quebec in June 2017. Partnering with Little Caesars was a monumental milestone for the first-time business owner for several reasons. Not only did her dream of being her own boss come true, she was awarded the first Little Caesars franchise in the province.

“I am very proud to be the first franchisee in the Québec market,” she says. “I’m confident Little Caesars will grow throughout the province and more franchise partners will join the system, but it’s meaningful to know that I was the first one.”

If there’s one thing Suzelle loves about operating a Little Caesars franchise, it’s the security that comes with running a system with a proven success rate. She says one of the benefits of franchising is knowing that the concept you are investing in has already gone through the mistakes so you don’t have to.

“The franchisor has tested the business model and knows it’s successful,” Suzelle explains. “They correct anything that doesn’t work to ensure their franchise partners also succeed.”

Aside from joining a proven business with opportunities for growth, there is one other reason why Suzelle was drawn to Little Caesars’ booth at the Franchise Canada Show.

“I love the pizza!”
